My posts on new music have been a bit slack since we restarted, so there may be some posts over the next while that will see some back tracking on releases from earlier in the year, and I can’t let this album from Danish producer Paxton Fettel (coming out through the ace Greta Cottage Workshop crew) go by with out giving it some love. In a year where a certain languid form of house music seems to be very much on trend I’ve seen little mention of this beautifully crafted LP of blissful and tender music of said style. This is as strong and fulfilling a long player I’ve come across in some time, with nary a filler track on it, taking on little jazzy inflections here and there, subtle (but at other times, straight up funky) basslines and playful percussion that keeps bringing me back for repeated listens alongside all the wonderful melodies, both played and sampled (I think).
At this stage of the game I rarely push the vinyl side of things but this comes in a wonderful packaging and it looks and sounds amazing, with the video below showing the skill and effort put in to putting it together, its just not the same getting the files sometimes. Simple as. Sure to be one of the top releases of 2015.
