Three Twitch Feeds That Must Remain Post Pandemic

We have almost made it past the pandemic here stateside. Businesses are reopening shortly, and that means live events will take place soon. Over the past fourteen months I have found the time to be refreshing away from the party scene. I have discovered new music, and learned new skills. Still there is something about Deep Bass sinking into your chest from your favorite selector on a Saturday night.

With that being said, the dance community found a way to keep connected with live feeds from DJ’s the world over. I am sure these small gestures of kindness have helped keep people sane. The time was perilous to say the least. The music is what kept me grounded, especially during the beginning of this quagmire.

Over this time there have been a few streams that have caught my attention. All of them for individual reasons themselves. They all have brought inspiration to me musically in one way or another. For that I say thank you very much. It was not always easy to get up and just play jams for me with nothing on the horizon. You all caused me to remember we do music for therapy just as much as for the party. Marcellus Pittman said it best at Excursions Detroit 2019, “We in here healing people”. That is truly what great DJs do.

Twitch feeds that must remain in my opinion one way or another post pandemic.

1.  Celeste The DJ- Saturdays 3pm to 5pm CST

Celeste Alexander is from Chicago, Illinois. Her longevity in House Music is something that should be noted. As one of the first female DJs in Chicago, Miss Celeste aka The First Lady Of House has blazed a trail for not only aspiring female DJs, but black underground DJs who see her footprint and strive for excellence also. Her show is on Saturdays from 3pm to 5pm CST. The music she presents in definitively Black American Underground Dance Music. Tune in for one of these shows as I am for certain you will be dancing in your living room.

2. Excursions- Every Last Saturday Of The Month 2pm to 12am CST

Cordell Johnson and James Vincent’s Excursions is a one of a kind event live in person and online. The two have an appeal that spans the young generation to the OG’s. Known best for their Underground vibes Cordell and James take on music is refreshing. On any given Saturday expect to hear everything from jazz, broken beat, techno, disco, house, and back again. Also hosting a deep roster of international underground talent which makes this feed just outright excellent. Excursions sets a standard for music that only Midwest DJs can uphold.

3. Elements Oakland- Every Third And Fourth Saturday Of The Month 7pm to Late PST

https://www.twitch.tv/elementsoak

Patrick Wilson, Nina Sol, and P Soul have an outstanding live feed that gushes with Deep Underground Soul. I found this feed by listening to Nina Sol’s sets on Soundcloud, and decided to dig further as her selection and mixing were quite impressive. What I found was an online community of music aficionados who are holding down not only The Bay but California as well. During these Saturday night sessions Patrick Wilson brings a vibe very reminiscent of  Shelter in NYC. As well every 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 7pm until 10pm P Soul lays down a lovely early week set. I am looking forward to peeping this event in person, however please do keep the Twitch feed alive as well!!!
