I’ve been a busy boy, what with the parties a couple weeks ago and prepping LWYF-002 (which got sent out for mastering!) as well as life doing its thing to tie up all my time and energy. This has meant I’ve been kind of getting out of the habit of writing, but I’m trying to get back into it. I’m gonna do a new records post here shortly, but in the meantime I want to give some love to the bloggers who aren’t as lazy as I am!
Our man Jacob over at Gridface continues to kill it with new interviews with DJ Minx, K-Hand, and Robert Hood. It’s always nice to get the female perspective, since that is a relatively rare thing in house and techno music.
The Wire magazine has a lengthy unedited interview with Sherard Ingram aka DJ Stingray aka Urban Tribe online. Generally, The Wire’s coverage of Detroit music has left me with mixed feelings, but not in this case. Sherard breaks down some really great stories about him and Kenny Dixon Jr. speeding up bass music at biker bars, and other fantastic Detroit stories that I had heard bits and pieces of from Shake and Mad Mike but never in such complete detail. ESSENTIAL READING!
The cats over at Out There A Minute have an interview with Kassem Mosse as well as a guest mix from him that is pretty dope. Workshop is one of those few Euro labels that I always check new releases by; even if I end up not buying them, they are generally good. This mix captures their aesthetic pretty well, I think!
The Modyfier blog has a new mix up from Fred P. aka Black Jazz Consortium that takes it as deep as you’d expect. Also, they recently got a non-vinyl mix from ISM friend Chymera, which is also worth a look if you’re into that kind of thing. I wonder if Modyfier has something against ISM since it seems every other techno/house blogger out there has done mixes for them?!?! It’s all good though!
Our man Bernardo over at the Delicious Records blog has a new mix by our man Red D. from We Play House. This one is a studio mix, and will serve to hold you over before we drop a long live mix by Red D. here at ISM in the next week or so!

really enjoyed the Stingray interview, it was also nice to read someone being positive and optimistic about contemporary Detroit for a change
While I certainly understand and appreciate the theory of letting your records play long enough to get the full experience of the track, I definitely would like to have heard more than the two boring cuts I’ve heard after 18 full minutes of the Kassem
Mosse mix. Yeesh.
