So this Thursday will be the first time I’m playing records in Detroit.
Facebook event page is here. For those not on FB, here is the info:
Time: Thursday at 9:30pm – Friday at 2:00am
Location:
Pulse Detroit
156 Monroe st
Detroit, MIResidents Todd Weston and Guy Lafleur have been out to Pittsburgh
numerous times this past year and are finally bringing<<<< Thomas Cox (Pittsburgh, Love What You Feel) >>>>
Thomas is a true lover of good music regardless of genre and is very
much rooted in Detroit with an all vinyl blend of techno, deep house
and disco. And of course residents Guy lafleur & Todd Weston will be kicking
things off right.NO COVER | $3 DRAFTS | 21+
I’ll be bringing through some new records on labels like Further Records, Love’s Label, and of course the new Noleian Reusse 12″ on my label! All that plus my usual selection of bangers, classics, and deep shit, you know I’m gonna represent right in such a special musical city. I hope to see some ISM readers out there!
Now on to some other things…
Our boy Jez over at the Innersounds blog did an extensive and really informative interview with the head of the International Feel label. There are three parts to the interview; I linked to the first one, and there are links at the top for the other two. He has lots to say about the idea of running a vinyl label in 2010, and the underground music business in general. This is a pretty essential interview to read if you’re doing this shit!
My man Paul Hammond over at Real Soon did a mix of releases from his label for the West Norwood Cassette Library blog. This one includes some joints from the upcoming EP by James Duncan!
Crosstalk Distribution out of Chicago (the cats who do a good job distributing Love What You Feel for me!) started up an online shop so you can order directly from them. This is a really good development as it was hard for some of the releases they carry to be found easily from US shops.
That’s all for now. I’ll do another new records post next week once I’m back from the D, this will include many new promos and anything I pick up in Detroit.

Nice… Can’t wait to get into that International Feel interview. Definitely one of my absolute favorite newer labels.
How did your gig in Detroit go Tom?
