Guest Mix: Bill Converse Live @ Backspin Records 12-17-10

Sometimes I think our never-ending series of mixes here at ISM get less hype than other sites’ simply because we don’t concentrate on “name” deejays, and we don’t have a clever name followed by the word “podcast” because I think that word is stupid. You can’t get our shit on iTunes or whatever, you have to come here and get it. We focus solely on the music and the mix, no matter who did the mixing, and I think the results in our mix series stand up to any other “podcast” out there. This is another case of a good deejay playing a hell of a set, and I think ISM readers will dig the results.

The man like Disco Nihilist tipped me off to this mix by Bill Converse a couple weeks back. In fact, he insisted that I check it out, saying it was one of the best mixes he had heard from anyone in a long time. I am inclined to agree! It’s just that simple mix-up of house and techno music that we love so much here, done by one of the hardworking deejays out there dedicating their time and energy to this music we obsess over. This is that real shit.

The Disco Nihilist wrote up a little intro for the mix:

This mix is from Eric Wallenstein’s going away party at Backspin Records. It was recorded live on December, 17th 2010 with 3 decks, a mixer, and a cassette deck rummaged from the back room of Backspin at the last minute. The recording was taken from a single side of a C90.

Bill Converse is one of the best jocks in Texas. He is one of my favorite selectors and I am pleased to be able to share one of his very rare recorded mixes with the audience of ISM.
