60 Miles is the new project from John Daly and Frawl (who is one half of the Never Learnt label and whose own debut 12″ recently dropped), the first 12″ of which is going to drop in the next couple of weeks. I wasn’t expecting it to be leaning so much towards the techno side of things as it is, but this is a good thing. The 3 tracks are rough and heavy sounding but not in that amateurish way we have been subjected to far too much in the last few years and with the guys knowing their way around a proper melody (and the odd cheeky sample) it results in a pretty potent set of bangers for the dancefloor. With the B1 titled “Shake” I can’t help but feel that Shake Shakir is an influence here, even though the results are more restrained that one would get from his own productions. Melody, funk and some grit are a favourite combination of mine, which this delivers across all 3 cuts.
There’s no soundcloud / youtube up for this stuff (yet?) so all I’ve got to share are the samples Juno have up. I will update the post if better links appear.

Sounding beefy. They’ve a few live dates coming up as well so I’m looking forward to hearing the set.

Couldn’t agree more with the super fresh comment, a daily source of heat from ISM.
