Here’s a mix I did last weekend (slightly hungover, which is my excuse for some sloppy mixing). It’s pretty eclectic, ranging from 70’s/80’s funk and boogie, through house and electro to techno, and the tempo goes up and down a bit, but I think it’s pretty funky throughout, at least that was the intention. 1….

Deep Frequencies
Simon and Guillaume have been working with the Lucky Cloud soundsystem for some time, putting on some great parties including hosting David Mancuso’s London Loft sessions. More recently the guys have also been running Deepfrequency.com – an internet radio station par excellence. ISM caught up with them to talk about some of the history and…
From the library
I’ve been listening to a couple of library LPs over the past few days, prompting me to make a (rare) post about them and also some other music I’ve been playing recently. The idea of the library LP is something that fascinates me, especially given the amazing music that found its way on to some…
‘Infinite State Radio’ on Deepfrequency.com – Tonight!
I’m starting a new 2 hour monthly show for deepfrequency.com tonight (16th June) from 9pm to 11pm UK time. I’ll be transmitting live from my flat in Brixton tonight joined by Dea playing music from around the cosmos. The show aims to be ISM related so we’ll be playing some guest mixes from ISM posters…
More new records and ISM on the Wireless
A few records I’ve picked up recently that tom didn’t mention in his last post. First off there’s the new Reggie Dokes on one of the new Clone labels, Loft Supreme. Reggie’s a big fav here at ISM, of course, and this is another fantastic example why. 2 quality deep house tracks, more dancefloor friendly…
Jeff Mills: In Detroit, he’s still The Wizard
DEMF wasn’t as happening of a weekend for me as it was for my ISM compatriots. However, I did catch most of Derrick May’s closing set at the main stage, and, most importantly, I was there to witness an excellent Wizard-style performance by Jeff Mills at the Mixworks party–replete with self-made edits, multi-layered blends, and…
London… Sat 6th June… music, dancing and all that…
Basement Blackout, secret basement location, Brixton Thought we’d let some London readers into the loop… NYE a few months back saw a small team of dedicated vinyl junkies come together for a private party in the basement of a beaten up old restaurant in Brixton, South London. The idea was to get away from the…
Deep In The Mix – house and techno
Well, finally I got my arse in gear and did a new mix. I have a bunch of different piles of records strewn about my room from abandoned ideas for mixes from the last few months. But one thing I’ve wanted to try and do is a mix of exclusively new(ish) house and techno which…
DEEP SEA FM
I’ve been invited to do a Drexciya special on my man Nik’s weekly radio show Box Deluxe here in Dublin this Saturday evening. If you’re in the locale you can tune in at 99.5 on your FM dial or go to the website and stream from 6.30-8.00pm Irish time. For those who know…… Update: thanks…
This Friday, in SF
For those of you in the San Francisco bay area that would like to hear some of the music we write about on this blog, I’ll be playing this Friday, May 1st, at Swig (561 Geary St. @ Taylor), alongside Dave Siska of Sonic Sunset fame. Expect to hear Italo disco, Brit-tech (such as B12,…
