Guest Mix: Scott Ferguson #8 – More Unreleased FPR Tracks

SFergStudio2

Kicking off what will be a month of regular guest mixes is the newest joint from our resident guest mixer, Scott Ferguson of Ferrispark Records. Since dropping his first one for us way back in April of ’08, Scott has seen something of a revival with the vinyl represses of the early Ferrispark 12″s blowing it up along with his new material that has dropped on labels like Morse, Kinda Soul, and Deep Explorer. His last mix for us consisted of all unreleased tracks from his back catalog, some of which are likely to now see the light of day on wax due to his airing them out for us. We love to see our boys blowing it up all over the world; Scott will be banging it out in Moscow in the near future so keep your eyes peeled for that if you’re in the area.

This new mix is chock full of more unreleased jams (many of which were made in the studio pictured above!). I’ll let Scott himself tell the tale…..

“After the great response to my last mix here on ISM, I decided to do a second mix of virtually all unreleased material. The tracks span over the last 12 years or so including the very first track (Forever Sorry) in this mix which is definitely one of my first recorded productions (somewhere around 1997). The second track (Only Love) was created around 1998 on my ASR-10 while a group of friends consumed alcohol and chatted in the hallway outside of my studio in Highland Park. ‘I Believe’ is part of the album entitled ‘In The Light’ that Marvin Belton and I started in 2004, some of that album will be released on a FPR 12″ in November of 2009. The next 3 tracks (Among The Clouds, Morning Of The Fifth Day, & Untitled) are more recent, around 2006-2007 if I recall correctly. ‘Yeah’ is ancient (1997/1998) and I might add sort of funny to me when I listen to its simplicity. The next track is a remix of a Ryo Murakami song that I did for the label Quintessentials last week, it should see a release date sometime in 2010 (Thank you Stefan). ‘Warehouse Dream’ was created as part of my full-length album entitled ‘Save Our Sons And Daughters’. Two tracks from the album were released on a FPR 12” in 2005 and three more will be out in September of 2009. ‘DaDa- Da – DeDe’ comes from an unreleased 3 track EP I did entitled ‘Whiteboy Wade’ produced by ‘Mick Wuckaby’. It was sort of a tribute to Mike Huckaby & Rick Wade because of the influence their music has had on me (I must say its so nice to see Mike & Rick getting some well deserved recognition again). Thank you all for the kind comments and support, I hope you enjoy, after all that is what creating music is all about… SOLID!
