Just a heads up on a Dam Funk interview I came across today. He talks about his influences, bringing the Funk back to the people, and future projects. Seems like a really cool guy, and I agree with a lot of what he says. I’m definitely with him on the playlists thing, DJs should be sharing their knowledge of music and giving dues to the artists making the music that they play. I also thought it was funny how he name checks Omar-S, as on the last interview that Tom did with him he said he tried contacting Dam-Funk but got blanked! Ha, maybe you should try again man 😉
And while you’re reading that check out this Dam Funk mix for Brooklyn Radio full of killer synth funk and boogie jams, it’s from last year, but it’s still hot.
Ps, for the Irish heads, loads of good stuff on in Dublin this weekend, the recently featured David Vunk is playing for Lunar Disko in Kennedy’s tonight, unfortunately that’s clashing with Larry Heard who also plays tonight, and on Saturday Omar-S makes his Irish debut in the Twisted Pepper.

It’s a bit messy but friends reported it was a great night and you can gather that, shouts out all his records too.
the Heard gig definately effected the turn out for vunk tonight, but he absolutely killed it. rarely have i seen a dj play with so much passion. hilarious visuals too.
Hadn’t heard of him until this interview. After peeping some of his stuff on myspace ran out and got the Rhythm Trax Vol IV EP on Stones Throw. Good shit! Can’t wait for the new album and to hear him play in NYC at the Stones Throw party in May…thanks for posting and getting me informed!
could anyone put the brooklyn radio mix up on sendspace or elsewhere as the link is now broken?
