Now this is a really special treat! For those of you who don’t know Steven Tang, he is the owner of deep techno label Emphasis Recordings. Emphasis has been a platform for much of Mr. Tang’s own productions under his name and the Obsolete Music Technology alias, as well as a few releases by other producers including this year’s EP by ESOM. Emphasis has also featured remixes by artists like Jamal Moss and Arne Weinberg.
When I asked Steven for this guest mix, my one request was that he include “Windy City” from the very first Emphasis release; what he ended up giving us is a retrospective of his work over the past decade! In his own words:
For this mix, I play my own records! This mix consists of tracks from my past, present, and future. It gives you a good look at, in context, what I’ve done the past decade with my label Emphasis Recordings. Raw and sloppy mixing! LOL! One take on 1200’s and CDJ.
That’s just how we like it! I’m very pleased with the results, and I’m excited to be able to host this mix here on ISM. This is beautiful, soulful techno music!
