I had a very quiet time musically in 2019, my son was born last January so we have had our hands full.
Recently we built some new record shelves and since then I have been reorganizing my collection to make it easier to find stuff. I have even been trying to reduce the quantity of records a little. It turns out I have bought a few records that I am not so fond of.
Over that time I rediscovered the simple pleasure of sitting down for an hour or so and just playing records for my own enjoyment. It probably sounds obvious to those reading this blog, but enjoying good records on a decent hi-fi sound system is hard to beat.
I will try and hit record on at least one of those sessions each month from now on. This first recording was focused on deep funk LPs & 12″s and a few ‘Blaxploitation’ film soundtracks. I used to buy a lot of this style in the early 2000s when I got my first regular gig at a breakdance party.
