Jazz always reminds me of the city, busy, something happening all the time and if you blink you’ll miss it, occasional moments of quiet reflection, the blues. I made this mix last night of some records I’ve been listening to since I moved, hope you all enjoy it….
The Art Blakey Percussion Ensemble – Oscalypso
Yusef Lateef – Snafu
Cecil Taylor – Get Out Of Town
Brigitte Fontaine & The Art Ensemble Of Chicago – Tanka 2
Sonny Rollins – Swingin’ For Bumsy
‘Cannonball’ Adderly – One For Daddy-o
Duke Ellington & John Coltrane – In A Sentimental Mood
Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers – Only A Paper Moon

thanks, looking forward to this.
incidentally, I was browsing youtube the other day looking for old Duke Ellington footage, but I came across this great performance of In My Solitude by Thelonius Monk, def worth checking out

glad you liked it. and thanks for the youtube link. as an aside monk’s first album on riverside in 1955 was made up of duke ellington covers (including solitude) – they felt it would be a good way for a larger audience to understand his style. it’s a nice record.
