A couple of things

Lunar

What with the imminent arrival of Tom’s new label it’s also good to hear that he’s not the only one out there applying a DIY aesthetic to putting out new wax. Featured recently on this here site; William Burnett aka Speculator has also recently launched a new label which he is selling directly to the punter. The first 12″ on his new WT label is a split release between $tinkworx and Kinoeye, an excellent deep techno/house release. There is little or no promo for this on-line and Burnett is selling it directly at $10 a pop plus shipping and if you want to get more info/samples etc you should contact William via his myspace http://www.myspace.com/speculator.

For Irish/Dublin readers there is a bit of ISM related gig action coming up over the next couple of weeks. First up, tomorrow – Saturday –  I’m warming up for Final Frontier/Pigna/Nature Records head honcho Marco Passarani at this month’s Lunar Disko down in Kennedys on Westland Row. Also playing is Electric City’s Dan Power who never fails to bring it with quality deep Detroit and Chicago cuts. The Lunar guys have also just released their latest 12″ on their label, this one coming from Faceless Mind. It’s a radical departure from the label’s debut, this time we get 4 140bpm electro cuts. It’s not only great to see the guys just get that second release out, but it shows that they are willing to keep it mixed too instead of sticking to the one style. What does tie the releases together is that the remit of the label is representing what goes on down at the night. If you  decide to pop down tomorrow they’ll have some copies on sale for 8e.

Finally Gmos is making an appearance in a couple of weeks – Saturday 30th – at the recently revived Fatty Fatty (best name  for a night in the city imo) down in The Melody Bar on Capel St, where the two of us played not too long ago. Also on the night is Tim Blake, a name that appeared a few years ago but then seemed to disappear just as quickly. If memory serves me right there was some Transmat related rumours over some of his productions around then, but nothing came of it (feel free to correct me if this is a scurrilous rumour I’m convinced I read about somewhere!). It’s been a while since I’ve heard anything he’s done but I recall his work being pretty impressive back then.  Should be a good one.
