It’s In The Rhythm – funk/disco/house/electro/techno mix

Here’s a mix I did last weekend (slightly hungover, which is my excuse for some sloppy mixing). It’s pretty eclectic, ranging from 70’s/80’s funk and boogie, through house and electro to techno, and the tempo goes up and down a bit, but I think it’s pretty funky throughout, at least that was the intention.

Quality mix Gav, straight up! Let’s go swimming is a personal favourite of mine, as with most of arthur’s stuff its fucking incredible…Just wondering have you got an original copy? It’s #1 want for me the past while, haven’t really found a reasonably priced copy (in good condition) but i’m thinkin i’ll just have to cough up. My ither #1 want is also by Arthur Russell, it’s the calling out of context LP. If anybody reading this has a copy – hit me up..
sorry for the slight hijack, back to the mix. Some real quality in there, love both the dilla and dam funk joints. I really love seeing things being mixed up like this

    Great mix…love it!

  4. clom says:

love this. getting me nicely excited about dam funk in Glasgow next week!

is it just me or is Midas Touch everywhere just now?
i’ve heard it on so many mixes recently, although mostly it’s people showing off they’ve got a copy of MASK 500 with the Boards of Canada/Hells Interface remix.

I’m really hoping that Audika figure out that a repress of the Calling out of Context and First Thought Best Thought vinyls would make a lot of commercial sense! Who wouldn’t want to hear That’s Us/Wild Combination over a big system!?

  5. gmos says:

original promo, got it off discogs for about £30, which I think is pretty reasonable.

  6. gmos says:

haven’t noticed Midas Touch being everywhere really, but it’s a total classic. the MASK version is excellent but I prefer the OG anyway so there’s not a chance I’d pay the big bucks for it

  7. clom says:

for me the original definitely works better in this mix!

i had copies of a lot of early skam and two of the MASK compilations years ago, they were “lost” when i moved out of a flat where a few of us had integrated our collections. to this day I occasionally lie awake thinking about them!

  8. clom says:

an important lesson that despite the best of intentions, attempts to emulate record pools of yore generally end in tears!

i just try to avoid looking them up on discogs!

  9. Dean says:

yeah, the only prices i’ve been seeing have all been in the range of €80-100! you got yourself a bargain there

  10. Kenny says:

Didn’t make it through all of this as had to scoot off to work but what I heard was class. Yer on a roll with the mixes at the moment dude. I really must get off my ass and do one. I’ve got records comin’ out me arse at the moment.

  11. nice, nice, nice…

  12. doyley says:
