Omar-S – “I Wanna Know”

Another one of the big jams from earlier in 2015, Omar-S’ “I Wanna Know” remains one of the most potent killers in my record bag even after so many months of hammering it. The vocals by James Garcia combined with the slightly cheesy synths give this a similar vibe to early Chicago house or lo-fi italo disco, but the lyrics are influenced by modern R&B which makes the track much more interesting than the standard old school house knockoffs that have been going around for the past few years. The repetitive structure and catchy hook work together to make it feel like it’s all over way too soon. Another classic by Omar-S.

classic. I think I heard it played out every week for at least three months when it was released

love it so much when Alex does vocal jams. BTW is that a sample from BB&B Band “All Night Long” hidden in the mix on this track?

think the castanets sample comes from my mine – hypnotic tango
