Guest Mix: Barry Redsetta (Major Problems)

For our readers living in Ireland Barry Redsetta is an instantly recognisable name. Possibly most well known as the long standing resident at the recently closed Twisted Pepper, he has been a mainstay in Irish clubbing for many, many years and is oft and quite rightly regarded as one of the finest djs ever to come from Ireland. While many argue about the declining role of the resident dj, this is a man who perfected the art, a versatile performer who could always deliver the right warm up or just as equally deliver a killer main slot; one can always learn a lot from listening to him play. Also, his online mixes are a very rare thing so we extremely stoked to bring this to you.

In recent years he has also helmed the Major Problems label, which as so far seen killer releases from the likes of Terriers, Compassion Crew and New Jackson. It’s forthcoming release comes out of the leftfield, a reissue of super rare African synth funk by Admas entitled “Kalatashew Waga” –  featuring a remix from Andras Fox, hitting stores in the coming weeks.

The label is hosting a party in Berlin’s Ohm Club this Friday, 30th October which will feature Terries, New Jackson, Tr One, Lumigraph and himself. If you are Berlin-based this is a superb showcase for what both the label and Ireland has to offer in house and techno at the moment.

If that wasn’t enough, he also co-runs the Out To Lunch party here in Dublin, which has been a breathe of fresh air in a somewhat staid clubbing scene, so far bringing over the likes of Traxx, Laurel Halo and DJ Sprinkles with Mr Ties coming up next in December.

And he isn’t frowning in black and white for his promo shot. Good werk.
