Mixes from me are even rarer in the last few years than my posting on yon blog here. I had been planning on recording a mix recently but my home set up is a little bit scrappy and lockdown means that a new one is currently not possible, but in the mean time a recording from a gig last year has surfaced. I got the chance to close out the Open Ear festival last June on Sherkin Island. Recorded at 3am on the Sunday night / Monday morning in the aptly named Banger Cliff tent, this one is pretty much going for the jugular after a little side step into the world of Mandy (the film, that is). Flying against the trend of meticulously clean promo mixes this one is warts and all, rough chops, plenty of beats slipping but this was all about keeping the energy up, and it was easily one of the most memorable gigs I’ve ever played, to one of my favourite crowds in one of my favourite places in the world.
