Samhain Special mixxx / DDR – Show Recordings

For the last couple of years I have been co-hosting, alongside Shane O’Meara, Feathers Glued To Your Face, Bringing Firepower, a 2hr, monthly radio show on Dublin Digital Radio (DDR). In a Dublin that has seen better times, DDR has grown to become an essential community within the city, and further afield. Many people feel they are losing the Dublin they love as developers lay waste to it, “regenerating” areas (including some that don’t need it), and building countless hotels, offices and, worse, co-living / aparthotels, none of which are there to cater for the long term inhabitants of the city. Despite what anyone tells them they should be, DDR has become an inclusive and broad-ranging collection of voices; all coming together to build something that actually feels really vital right now.

In the many years I’ve been on radio this has felt like the best fit, the best organised, and most of all, the best fun. Last Tuesday gone, myself and Shane did our first live broadcast since Covid hit back in March, and with it being the Witching season we recorded two hours of horror soundtracks, weirdo electro & pagan electronics. I’ve included the film names where required on the tracklist.

As of this week I’ve also started a weekly morning show that will be on every Wednesday at 10am. It’s less dj-focused and more just playing songs and talking nonsense (bare with me – even though I’ve been doing radio for 15 years I’ve kept my yapping to a minimum). This week’s show featured Teddy Pendergrass, Tangerine Dream, Autechre, Faith No More and, eh, more. Both can be streamed below.
