So yeah, this will be an annoying self-promotional type post in the process of ISM selling out. Or not. 
First up, my interview with the legendary Mr. Rick Wade is finally up over at Resident Advisor. It’s epic in length, but will hopefully get the word out about one of the most consistent (and consistently overlooked) underground deep house producers out there. Rick also hooked up the Anime style artwork for the piece, which makes it look even cooler. It makes me happy to be able to get these kinds of guys some love on a bigger stage.
In an interesting development, The Wire magazine’s new “Unofficial Channels” issue mentions ISM in the piece by Philip Sherburne. I haven’t got my hands on a copy yet, but I glanced at it and saw he mentioned a couple other techno blogs (Little White Earbuds, MNML SSGS, etc). Even though the Wire isn’t generally my thing, we appreciate the continued support from Philip (who linked to us on our first day of existence!) and welcome any new readers who may have discovered us through this. Give us a holler in the comments section, we like interaction around here!
This is hot on the heels of another ISM mention in a Berlin daily newspaper. I highly reccomend Babelfishing that for some great translation action, it says they call me a “nerve saw”. Actually, I guess that is about right…..
A close friend of ISM, Mr. Buscrates got a mention in an article on soulful hip-hop producer Terry Tester in the newest issue of Shook Magazine. Shook is kind of the sequel to Straight No Chaser, but with a slightly less wide ranging focus which makes it even a little bit better for my personal taste. I mean, one article mentioned my Toney Lee jam “Love So Deep” and the most recent Omar-S 12″ “The Further You Look – The Less You Will See” and there is also a feature on August Darnell! This is definitely right up my alley, it makes me happy to have another magazine to buy regularly along with Wax Poetics.
We’re taking over the world, slowly but surely. Or something.

@bOb – great suggestions, would also add Brett Dancer, Mike Grant (who just put out a new EP by Kyle Hall) as I’d really like to know what they’re up to, also Mike Huckaby, Keith Worthy, Patrice Scott and DJ Raybone Jones to name a few, the latter in partciular. Know next to nothing about him save that he features on the Detroit Soul: In The Dark compilation and in the Kyle Hall bio as being a mentor, and if any site will reach out, this seems like the spot.

I will say that the next thing I’m doing for RA involves 2 of the names you mentioned, and another couple of those names I’ve been in contact with about stuff for ISM! Plus we should hopefully have some other stuff going on by some other names in the same kind of area as well. I don’t have enough connections in Chicago or NYC, I need to work on that so I can get some of those guys on board too.

Sounds good Pipecock (my guess Keith Worthy and Patrice Scott behind two excellent labels, need to grab a couple of the early Sistrum Ep mind) besides I’m sure I’d still be typing if I wanted to list all those form Detroit I’d wanna see interviewed – Whilite, Pittmann, Alston, Minx,Sean Deason, Jason Fine, Luke Hess to name a few…on another tip, fwdthought camp you featured interests me as well, got a Pittsburg local in their midst right? Speaking from a foreigners perspective going beyond the big musical centres of America and exploring local scenes is an area I think blogs like these can really open minds.
Finally (apologies for the rant) one idea would be to contact Further Details (Paul Hammond, formerly one half of Ultramarine, now runs the strong Real Soon label) dunno if you’ve heard it, but I’m feeling his Old Bones album, deep but with a melancholy UK slant, perfect late night empty backroad music ^_^.

we’re in contact with those guys, so i can say with some certainty that they will be getting some air time from me somehow. the others i can definitely get hooked up with, it all depends on how much free time i have! my spring semester should be relatively unhectic since i’ll only be taking one EE course, so hopefully that will mean even more good things.
as for the fwdthought related Pittsburgher (his name is Chris Schubert, i mentioned him in one of my earliest posts here on ISM back in August 07), let’s just say that there are some things in the works with him that you will be reading/hearing about very soon right here.
i’m also in contact with Mr. Hammond, technically i believe i owe him a deejay mix for the Real Soon site! i need to get on that. he’s a good guy, i definitely want to get working on some things with him at some point as well.

Something I’d be interested in when you speak with Keith Worthy is asking if he knows what happened to Samurai Records, after a couple eps from John Beltran and fellow Indio member Sam Mcqueen there was word of a compilation featuring among others Keith Worthy and Juju & Jordash, but things have since gone quiet…
