Some Chi-house Booty

Just a couple of exciting things for people to look out for in terms of classic Chicago house. First up a new Let’s Pet Puppies release is on the way, this time it’s a reissue of the silly rare Jody “Fingers” Finch Jack Your Big Booty from 1986. Lovingly remastered and pressed on heavy vinyl and also includes a Derrick Carter remix. As the name suggests the title track is a filthy jackin’ ghetto track, whereas Whistle Bump is a more tripped out and melodic cut. You can check out some sound clips and read the excellent blurb on Thomos’ website.

Also on it’s way is Muzic Box Classics Vol 4 on the Partehardy label, which was set up by Ron Hardy’s nephew, Bill Hardy, to release some of Ron’s classic edits and rare tunes he played in the legendary Muzic Box club. The A-side features a Ron Hardy edit of Revelation’s Get Ready For This and the B-side is Risque III’s Don’t You Know from 1987. You can check out soundclips at Rush Hour.

If you’re a fan of Chicago house and you haven’t been paying attention to these 2 labels then you’ve seriously been missing out. Get on ’em!

Unfortunately, these probably won’t be out for a while yet, but our man Lerosa has made a really nice classic house mix for Real Soon Radio that should keep us going in the meantime, so do check that out.

I definitely like the sound of that unreleased “Whistle Worm” track. I kind of wish Partehardy would stick to unreleased material, though. I know there’s more out there 😉

anyone know what’s going on with partehardy.com? I ordered that jamie 326 jam from there a while back and it never came so I’m kinda bummed about that. and whoever operates the site (is it bill?) isn’t writing back…

I don’t know dude, never ordered from them. I think the best place to ask would probably be the deephousepage.com

Good stuff, will keep an eye out for these, also the Noni reissue on Prescription Classics that has just dropped, always wanted to hear that.

One last thing, at the risk of stating the obvious but the Lil’ Louis EP on Mathematics is essential if you haven’t got it already for the Jazzmen cut on vinyl. Amazing tune.

You should drop me a line when you’re in town! I’d definitely be up for meeting at Kstarke.

I thought the mixes were really good, but the sound quality left a lot to be desired. If I remember right, I could hear static in one channel on that EP. Not sure if it was a tracking issue or what….

on a related tip check out the new release on Eargasmic

  9. Just found the original pressing at a Salvation Army for $1. Wonder what that’s worth…
