Basement Blackout, secret basement location, Brixton

Thought we’d let some London readers into the loop… NYE a few months back saw a small team of dedicated vinyl junkies come together for a private party in the basement of a beaten up old restaurant in Brixton, South London. The idea was to get away from the corporate trappings of clubland and just jam in a small space with a bunch of music-lovers… it went rather well: think 80 people jacking in a tiny sweaty basement to Black Ivory records, slamming old-skool Chicago House, mad Italo Disco, and all the while enjoying a very, very relaxed attitude from the management to the smoking ban.

Well, we thought the time was right for another little party, and the date is this Saturday. Same venue for those who know, for those who don’t, get in touch for details. Door Tax is a (very reasonable, we’re sure you’ll agree) £5, which helps cover soundsystem and venue hire (what you thought this old place already had a soundsystem?!)

Selectors for the evening will be: Jonny 5, myself, Martin Lefteri, Dr.Love, with a special guest Felix Dickinson (Cynic Records)… playing all sorts of music, as long as it’s good. There probably won’t be any Phil Collins, put it that way.

If you wanna come down, email us on basementblackout@googlemail.com

There might be a discount if you mention ISM. But probably not. Do get in touch with your names though as it’s a private, guestlist only affair.

Maybe see some of you there…
